Role Profile: Director of User Experience (UX)

Overview

The Director of User Experience (UX) is responsible for overseeing the design and development of user-centric digital experiences. This role involves leading a team of UX designers and researchers, collaborating with product and development teams, and ensuring that the end products are intuitive, engaging, and meet customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team of UX designers and researchers to deliver high-quality designs. 

  • Develop and advocate for UX design standards and best practices across the organisation. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate user feedback into product improvements. 

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions. o Present design concepts and strategies to stakeholders and executives.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of UX design principles and methodologies. 

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills. 

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, or Figma. 

  • Ability to analyse user data and translate findings into actionable design solutions. o Strong communication skills to articulate design concepts and rationale effectively.

Education/Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in UX design, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Potential career advancement includes positions such as Vice President of User Experience, Chief Digital Officer, or roles in overall product management.
